Hull & District Amateur Radio Club - Overview
The Club was formed shortly after the end of the second World War, when its first callsign of G3AMW was allocated, although this may have been a derivative of an earlier club. The Club is now located at Walton Street, where it enjoys exclusive use of a room in the leisure centre, with facilities for HF CW & phone, VHF/UHF FM & SSB, & packet radio. Additionally, a 23cm FSTV system is being slowly assembled.
The club is equipped with workbenches for construction projects & equipment repair, & members are usually able to assist with technical knowledge, & loan of a good selection of tools & test equipment.
The club also runs courses for the Radio Amateur Examination, & also the Novice licence. Contact Jon, G7DBL, for details.
The club members currently meet on a Friday night at the West Park Leisure Centre (behind the Brickmakers Arms) on Goathland Close, Walton Street, Hull. The meeting starts nominally at 8:00 pm, & frequently includes lectures on technical subjects such as antennas, TV, Construction, Propagation etc. (For full list see Programme page.) Meetings also take place on other nights, and at weekends, dependant on members' requirements, or Special Events.
