There's nothing quite like a Sunday afternoon drive in the countryside, ending up at a public house somewhere....
Only, we're not going to tell you where in the countryside!
The Hull & District Amateur Radio Society holds Foxhunts during the summertime, currently within a boundary defined by OS Sheet 106, (Kingston upon Hull), East of the river Hull. The fox gives the first transmission at 13:00hrs, & every 10 minutes thereafter, till about 15:00 hrs, when a nearby pub will be selected to meet at. There are no trophies, no competition (officially!), just a radio direction finding exercise on a Sunday afternoon, ending up at some local hostelry. The hunt is open to anyone, not just club members, all that is required is a map & compass, transport, & some form of radio direction finding equipment for the 2 metre band, with horizontal polarization. As you only need a receiver, it's not even necessary to be licensed!
Hunts usually take place on Sundays that have an even number date, but this is a purely arbitrary figure, so check the Club Programme page for latest details.
To confirm that the hunt will go ahead, e.g. due to numbers of participants, weather etc., there is a net on the relevant day at 10:30 am, on initially, S20, then a nearby clear channel.
Good Luck!
