The H.A.D.A.R.S. Special Events Page

The Hull & District Amateur Radio Society have a number of special events during the year, many of which the public are invited to.

The society takes part in the annual Lighthouse & Lightship event, which usually takes place mid-August, transmitting from the Spurn Lightship in Hull Marina.

Year 2000 saw the revival of an interest in field days, where members set up a station in the middle of nowhere, with the intention of getting as many contacts as possible. Well that's how it's supposed to be on contest field days, but we decided to have our own non-contest field weekends, for the purpose of experimentation, & having a good time! Locations used in 2000 were Linton Lock (near York), & Flamborough.

In 2001, all field days were cancelled, including the VHF contest, due to the foot & mouth outbreak. However we hope to resume in 2002.

We also hope to run the Humber Bridge Rally again in 2002, many people will be glad to know that the current venue has had its roof replaced with a white roof, so it doesn't leak, & computer screens look the right colour again!
